Skins, man. They got them skins. You know, for when you’re not happy with yours, but don’t feel like going to a dermatologist.

No, in all seriousness, these guys are doing well with their platform. Omegle fell tragically and I have written a post on that subject already, so I won’t go into detail on why that was a sad day for the internet. Since its fall, however, new players have been popping up, like ome.tv, omegle.me and a few more. They’re nice, but the base issue that forced Omegle to shut down is also an issue on these platforms, which is active, real-time monitoring of potential inappropriate behavior. The internet will always have degenerates and open platforms like Omegle will always attract those degenerates.

In my Omegle post I point out that we should not let the mentally warped goblins of this world decide when or how we get to experience wholesome fun on the internet and Antruwa is really on top of it. They care about a safe internet and a safe Omegle alternative.

Realtime AI monitoring

In a world where AI is proving to be an effective tool in many aspects, Antruwa has taken advantage of this by monitoring video in real-time, leveraging an AI model that can recognize inappropriate behavior instantly. The model is accurate and fast, plus they actually have two separate AI models in place. Since it’s possible to get a false positive during the realtime monitoring, there is a second AI model checking the screenshots taken by the initial monitoring system to verify if it was actually something inappropriate. This all happens in real-time as well. It’s quite impressive.

Custom skins

Okay, I am actually psyched about this, it wasn’t just a bit at the start. Now I’m gonna be honest and say that buying custom skins has never really been something I am drawn to. Maybe because we didn’t have a lot of money growing up or maybe it’s just my generation. However, Antruwa has done something cool.

First off, they have three free skins: Antruwa (default), WhatsApp Web and Omegle. Yes, you can make Antruwa look like Omegle used to, for free. That is really awesome of these guys.

The other thing is an array of premium skins they offer to make the chat look like popular platforms. Currently they have six premium skins in their shop: Discord, Signal, Slack, Teams, Telegram and Twitch. With plenty more to come as well. Personally I find the Slack and Teams skins very interesting, since those are the platforms my employers use in their companies. I think everyone procrastinates a little at work, especially near the end of the day, when you’ve done your work for the day and are waiting for 5 PM to come around. It’s just annoying having to tab out of a screen when a colleague walks past or if someone could see your screen. Having Antruwa look like Slack or Teams takes away this skittish behavior and that is a really nice touch.

You can talk to the founders

If you have requests, questions, bug reports or just the need to talk to the people behind Antruwa, they have their own Discord server and are very available. You can tell they are modern in their approach with Antruwa and also in their way of communicating. They are also always planning new features, so it’s a cool place to hang out and give your two cents as users.

Conclusion

Antruwa is at the forefront when it comes to Omegle alternatives, both in terms of protection and monitoring, as well as modern customization options. To me, Antruwa is the best Omegle alternative I have tried so far and I can recommend it to those who miss Omegle.
